ALERRT and Operator XR Innovative Research Collaboration to Advance Law Enforcement Training

At Operator XR, our strategy has always been clear: to lead the transformation of law enforcement training through the power of immersive, extended reality (XR) technology to improve safety outcomes in the field. Today, we’re proud to share a major milestone in that mission — a strategic research collaboration with the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) Center at Texas State University.

As the FBI’s designated national standard for active shooter response training, ALERRT is a national leader in evidence-based, scenario-driven training for first responders. Our collaboration is designed to combine their unmatched expertise with our cutting-edge virtual reality training platform to explore new ways XR can enhance police readiness, decision-making, and performance in high-stress environments.

Building the Next Generation of XR Training for Law Enforcement

Over the next two years, we’ll be working closely with ALERRT to research how immersive technology can directly improve:

• Learning outcomes and long-term skill retention

• Physical and psychological performance under stress

• Fast and accurate decision-making in evolving scenarios

• Team communication and coordination in high-pressure situations

ALERRT has already trained over 300,000 first responders and continues to shape best practices in public safety training. By pairing their research-driven approach with Operator XR’s customizable VR platform, we’re taking a significant step toward building scalable, measurable, and repeatable training solutions for modern policing.

“We are especially excited to leverage the advanced capabilities of Operator XR’s multi-user VR training platform. Its customizable tools and immersive technology will expand our ability to study and improve law enforcement performance across a wide range of scenarios.” - Dr. Hunter Martaindale, Director of Research at ALERRT

From Insight to Impact: Real-World Readiness Through XR

As part of the collaboration, ALERRT will receive access to our latest training tools and hardware, allowing their team to test Operator XR in real-world law enforcement contexts. In return, ALERRT will share insights from their research to inform and refine product development, ensuring Operator XR continues to meet the evolving needs of modern law enforcement.

Our collaboration isn’t just about deploying technology—it’s about understanding how XR can genuinely improve operational readiness and outcomes in law enforcement. That’s why this initiative is grounded in continuous evaluation, shared learning, and real-world application.

“Working with ALERRT’s cutting-edge research team allows us to test and enhance our technology in real-world conditions while contributing to meaningful research that supports officers in the field.”

A Shared Vision for Safer Communities

The collaboration is structured for an initial two-year period with regular progress reviews and the opportunity for extended research. We also intend to pursue joint funding opportunities and collaborate research publications.

At Operator XR, we believe that the future of public safety training lies in scalable, immersive solutions that mirror the complexity of real-world threats. This collaboration reflects our unwavering commitment to innovation, research, and most importantly, supporting the men and women who serve our communities every day.
